Southeast Valley Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for Humanity
The SE Valley Lutheran Coalition for Habitat for Humanity is a group of Southeast Valley churches that join together to sponsor the construction of a new Habitat for Humanity home each year. When we have the information for this year's home, we will update that information here.

***UPDATED INFORMATION***
2020 Annual Golf Scramble - September 26, 2020 at 1:30pm
The Annual Habitat for Humanity Golf Tournament was supposed to take place in April and has been rescheduled to Saturday, September 26 with a 1:30pm shotgun-start at Legacy Golf Club in Phoenix.

Changes are being made to eliminate group gatherings, such as box lunches distributed at the start of the tournament rather than a sit down meal. There will be no raffles or Mulligans being sold this year (all players will automatically be  eligible for raffle prizes.)

Building Homes
Build of the home begins (this date will be entered when we have the information) and will take place on Saturdays. (To receive schedule updates, you will need to request them from SEVLHabitat@gmail.com.) The schedule is 7:30am - 1pm with lunch at 11am. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start to sign in and attend the morning prayer.

Individuals interested in building can simply show up. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer for construction and must be at least 18 to use power tools or be on the roof. Experience is not required but always welcome.

What to Wear
  • CLOSED-TOE and shoes with backs. Work boots are preferred but thick soled tennis shoes will be allowed. Please make sure that tennis shoes have a solid grip on the sole.
  • Please wear “work clothes” or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. (no tank-tops or “short” shorts)

What to Bring
  • Water Bottle (water to fill your bottle with will be available)
  • Sun Block
  • Tools: Habitat provides all hand tools, power tools, aprons, and supplies. There is no need to bring anything unless you rather use your own tools and tool belt. Do not bring power tools.

Providing Lunches
In addition to volunteers for building, we need individuals/groups willing to provide lunch on Desert Cross’ assigned days. When providing lunch, please plan for 35-40 people. A typical meal includes a main dish, a fruit, chips, a  dessert, and a drink option. Plates, napkins, and silverware will also need to be provided.

If you are interested in providing lunch, please contact the church office and help us plan ahead.

Supporting the SE Valley Lutheran Coalition
The Coalition raises sponsorship funds through a Golf Tournament, “In-Kind” donations of material and labor by material suppliers and contractors and individual contributions. Our single largest funding source is contributions from individuals utilizing the Arizona State Tax law which allows a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for contributions for the working poor.

Tax Credit Donation Information
For more than 20 years, Desert Cross Lutheran Church and the SE Valley Coalition have supported Habitat for Humanity's mission to build, renovate and repair affordable homes for families of modest means right here in metro Phoenix. Our coalition must raise $95,000 each year to build a house. The majority of our funding to continue this mission comes from donations from our mission supporter. Many of these supporters utilize the State Tax Credit available for contributions to Qualifying Charitable Organizations (Formerly Credit for the Working Poor).

Contributors will receive a formal thank you letter from Habitat for Humanity, which serves as a donation receipt for tax purposes. The tax credit program works just like the school donation programs and you can do both!

Make your check payable to Habitat for Humanity and mail it to the church, leave it at the church office or place it in the offering plate. Thank you for your support.

If you have questions about how to provide lunch, volunteer, or donate, please contact Vern Lenox.
